Most shoes that arrive at our benches beyond repair were not worn out. They were dried on a radiator, cleaned with the wrong thing, or worn two days running until the lining rotted.

The short version

Rotate your pairs. Use cedar trees while they cool. Brush off the day's dust before it becomes grit that cuts the grain. Cream a few times a season to feed the leather; wax only where you want shine. Never dry leather with heat.

What we use

The polishes, creams and conditioners in our shops are the ones we use on the bench — nothing is stocked because a rep pushed it. Everything is available in our shop, and staff will tell you which of it you do not need.
